There are several cruise terminal transportation options available to get from Houston to Galveston cruise port. Currently there is no direct public transportation (bus or train) between Houston and Galveston Island, so that’s off the list. Oct 2026 — A Disc Golf Stop at Stevenson Park
Most transfer requests are about timing: what time the flight lands, what time the ship boards. Once in a while, someone calls about something else entirely.
Stephanie Filson is taking her mother-in-law on a cruise out of Galveston next month, traveling with her husband. They booked a round-trip private transfer, airport to the cruise terminal and back. Then she asked a question we had not heard before: could we fit in a stop at the Stevenson Park Disc Golf Course in Friendswood on the ride back to the airport? She and her husband have a streak going, and they did not want a cruise to be what broke it.
On a shared shuttle, the answer would have been no. Shared rides run on a fixed schedule with other passengers aboard, so the route cannot bend for one group. A private transfer works differently. The vehicle belongs to your group for the trip, so the route can be built around what you need, as long as everyone still makes the flight.
That last part is the real constraint. The return leg is roughly 90 minutes, and the stop has to fit between disembarkation, park hours, and the airport check-in cutoff without putting the flight at risk. Friendswood sits between Galveston and Houston, so the course adds a stop, not a detour across town. We worked through the timing with Stephanie, planned Stevenson Park into the return route, and confirmed the booking well ahead of the sailing.
Then management looked at what we had built and decided it should not be a one-time favor. The Stevenson Park disc golf stop is now on our website as an option for anyone traveling between Houston and Galveston on a private transfer. One family’s request became something every visitor can book.
