Cruise Port → IAH & Hobby Shared & private options Available 24/7 4.8 ★ · 181 Reviews

Most cruise travelers plan the ride to Galveston and forget the ride back. Royal Galveston Shuttle runs the return direction too — a dependable Galveston to Houston shuttle that picks you up after your cruise and gets you to your departure airport without the post-cruise scramble for a rideshare.

We serve the trip home from all Galveston cruise terminals and, on private bookings, from any Galveston hotel or vacation rental. Drop-off is at both Houston airports: George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and William P. Hobby (HOU). Same flat rates as our outbound service — no surge pricing, no cruise-weekend markups.

How to Get From the Galveston Cruise Port Back to Houston Airport

After your ship docks and you clear the terminal, you have a few ways to reach IAH or Hobby — rideshare, taxi, or a pre-booked shuttle. The catch on debarkation morning is that hundreds of passengers leave the port at once, so on-demand rides surge in price and get scarce exactly when you need one. A shuttle booked in advance removes that risk: your ride is already reserved and waiting.

Royal Galveston Shuttle offers two ways to make the return trip:

Shared Return Shuttle

  • Pickup at all Galveston cruise terminals
  • Scheduled around your ship’s disembarkation time
  • Drop-off at IAH or Hobby Airport
  • Best value for solo travelers and couples

Private Return Shuttle

  • Pickup from any Galveston address — terminal, hotel or rental
  • Direct, door-to-door, no other passengers
  • Available 24/7 for early or late flights
  • Best for families, groups and tight connections

Not sure which fits your trip home? Compare both in seconds with our shuttle cost estimator, or see all current rates on the shuttle pricing page.

What Time Should You Schedule Your Return Shuttle?

Timing the trip home is the part travelers most often get wrong. Here is the simple version:

  • Most cruise ships begin debarkation around 7:00 AM and finish by 9:30–10:00 AM.
  • If you carry your own bags off (self-assist walk-off), you can be off the ship as early as 7:30–8:00 AM.
  • Cruise lines generally advise not booking flights home before about 12:00 PM at Hobby or 1:00 PM at IAH.

Schedule your return pickup for shortly after your expected walk-off time. From the cruise port, allow roughly 1 hour to Hobby and 1.5 to 2 hours to IAH, plus time to check in. When you book, give us your flight details — we plan the pickup so you reach the airport with a comfortable buffer.

You don’t have to book both directions together. Reserve just the Galveston to Houston leg if you arranged your ride down separately — or book a round trip in a single reservation and have your whole cruise transfer settled before you travel.

Every booking includes free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup. Missed Shuttle Protection is available as an optional add-on, covering verified airline or cruise delays.

Galveston to Houston Shuttle — FAQ

How do I get from Galveston cruise port back to Houston airport?

The most reliable way back is a pre-booked shuttle. Royal Galveston Shuttle runs return service from the Galveston cruise terminals to both Houston airports — IAH and Hobby. Choose a shared seat from the cruise terminal, or a private transfer that picks you up at any Galveston address. See current rates on the pricing page.

Do you pick up directly from the cruise terminal after I disembark?

Yes. The shared shuttle picks up at all Galveston cruise terminals, scheduled around your ship’s disembarkation time. Private shuttles also collect directly from the terminal, plus any hotel or address on Galveston Island.

Can you pick me up from my Galveston hotel for the trip back to Houston?

Hotel and vacation-rental pickups for the return trip are handled by our private shuttle, which serves any address on Galveston Island. The shared shuttle picks up only from the cruise terminals — so if you’re staying a night after your cruise, choose a private return transfer.

What time should I schedule my return shuttle to catch my flight home?

Most cruise ships finish disembarkation between 9:00 and 10:00 AM. Cruise lines recommend not booking flights home before about 12:00 PM from Hobby or 1:00 PM from IAH. Schedule your return pickup for shortly after your expected walk-off time and we’ll get you to the airport with time to spare.

Can I book only the return trip from Galveston to Houston?

Yes. You can book the Galveston-to-Houston leg on its own, or reserve a round trip in a single booking if you also need the ride down to Galveston.

How long is the shuttle from Galveston cruise port to IAH or Hobby?

From the Galveston cruise port, the ride to Hobby Airport takes about 1 hour, and to IAH about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and whether the shuttle is shared or private. Private transfers are direct and typically faster.
