Three Reasons People Book This Route

Downtown behaves differently from the suburbs we serve. Nobody is leaving from a house with a car in the drive, which removes the comparison that dominates the other pages: there is no vehicle to park at the port, so a transfer is not competing against driving yourself.

A night before the ship

Flying into either Houston airport a day early and staying downtown is a common way to de-risk a cruise. You land with a buffer, you are under an hour from the terminal in the morning, and you see something of the city rather than a hotel by a runway.

Conference then cruise

The George R. Brown runs events that finish on a Friday, and a Galveston sailing the next morning is an easy add-on. Luggage is already packed and there is no car in the equation, which makes a private transfer the straightforward option rather than the extravagant one.

Medical Center visitors

Families in Houston for treatment sometimes finish with a few days on the coast. These trips need more care with timing and luggage than a standard airport run, so tell us what you need when you book.

If you are flying in on the day rather than staying over, the airport routes are usually the better answer — shared seats run hourly from Hobby and Bush Intercontinental at $35 per person, and there is no reason to route through downtown to reach the coast.

Fifty Miles, Straight Down I-45

Downtown is the easiest departure point of the eight areas we publish, because you begin at the top of the road rather than fighting your way onto it. Join I‑45 South and stay on it for the whole 49.9 miles, out past Webster and League City, over the causeway and onto the island. About fifty-four minutes when it is clear.

There is an alternative east through La Porte on SH‑146, which comes out at 58.6 miles and around an hour and eight minutes. Nine miles longer for a fourteen-minute penalty, so it exists as an escape route rather than a preference — useful on the rare morning when something has closed I‑45 south of the loop.

The figure is still confirmed against your specific pickup before you pay, and it then holds — it does not rise on cruise weekends or during a convention. Dropping Off at the Port

Your driver pulls up at the terminal entrance rather than a nearby lot. Royal Caribbean sails from Terminal 10, Carnival and Norwegian from Terminals 25 and 28, Disney and Princess from Terminal 25, MSC from Terminal 16. Assignments move between seasons, so give us the cruise line when you book and we will confirm which entrance you need.

I am flying in on the day. Should I route through downtown?

No. If you are not staying over, go directly from the airport. Shared seats at $35 per person run hourly from Bush Intercontinental and Hobby, and both are more direct than coming into the city first.

Is the price per person or per vehicle?

Per vehicle. Two passengers and five passengers pay the same rate in the same van. There are two six-seat options: the Economy Van, which is the same vehicle with a sixth seat, and the Black Suburban, the premium choice with leather and more luggage room.

Do you provide child car seats?

Yes — infant, toddler and booster seats at $15 each way. Texas law requires an approved restraint for any child under eight who is shorter than 4 feet 9 inches, under Transportation Code § 545.412. Tell us ages and weights when you book.

How far in advance should I book?
