Two things flip the arithmetic. A party of eight or more needs two cars and two parking spaces, at which point a ten-seater at $370 each way starts to look sensible. And a longer sailing pushes parking up while the transfer rate stays put — at fourteen nights the gap narrows considerably. For everyone else, we would rather say this plainly than have you work it out afterwards.
Forty-Three Miles, Two Ways
The usual routing runs east across to I‑45 and then south — 42.6 miles, about forty-six minutes clear. The alternative drops south on SH‑6 through Alvin and comes at the island from the west. That one is 39.4 miles, more than three miles shorter, and takes about fifty-four minutes.
The reason is surface road. The Alvin route runs through towns with lights and lower limits, while the I‑45 leg is highway the whole way. It becomes the better option only when something has closed the interstate, which on a cruise Saturday is worth having in reserve. Your driver decides on the morning; the rate does not change either way.

Where We Collect in Pearland
Pearland has grown outward rather than upward, and it is now large enough to be split between two school districts — Pearland ISD in the older eastern half and Alvin ISD across the newer western side. That division is a fair proxy for the pickup geography.
An address off Broadway or near Pearland Town Center sits close to the I‑45 approach and lands near the published figure. Shadow Creek Ranch, Silverlake and the newer developments over towards SH‑288 and Manvel add distance before the trip properly starts. It is not a large difference — Pearland is compact compared with Cypress or Conroe — but it is enough that we quote from a street address rather than a postcode.
